What is PM Compliance?
PM compliance (preventive maintenance compliance) is the percentage of planned preventive maintenance work that is completed on time. It is a common KPI: e.g. 95% PM compliance means 95% of due PM tasks were completed by their due date.
What it means
High PM compliance indicates that planned work is being executed as scheduled. Low compliance may mean resource constraints, poor planning or too many PM tasks.
Why it matters
- PM compliance = (PM completed on time ÷ PM due) × 100%.
- Often measured overall or by asset, area or criticality.
- Targets (e.g. 90% or 95%) are common for critical assets.
- CMMS calculates compliance from work order due and completion dates.
Example in maintenance operations
100 PM tasks were due in March; 92 were completed by due date. PM compliance = 92%. A plant tracks compliance by production line to focus improvement.
